CH. Changa's Galatar (Tar)

[Tar] [Tar]

A Bit About Tar

From the first time that I set eyes on Galatar I knew he wanted to live at my house. It could have been the way he simply came in, jumped into the recliner and curled up upon entering my home that did it. Or those soulful eyes that can read your mind.
Carole Kirk had brought Tar to KY from June Young, Tar’s breeder, to find him a new home and to show him a bit. He took great delight in teasing Carole’s dog, Justin, by taunting him from one side of the ex-pen and then he would casually glance in Justin’s direction to make sure he was still aggravated.
Carole brought Tar to my house for a visit and it didn’t take long for Brian and I to discuss what the possibility of June letting us keep Tar would be. Details were worked out and Tar is my permanent bed warmer, male dog aggravator, and cheese eater. We showed Tar in limited shows and he did fairly well. He is retired now and living the good life.
Tar has always been a major escape artist and has gotten out of every type of crate he’s been in. Twice at Basenji Nationals he’s let himself out, mainly so he could go visit the girlie basenjis. Tar has climbed chain link kennels and opened sliding glass doors. He’s a soulful fella and loves all people. Folks tell me, upon meeting my basenjis, that they want one just like Tar as he is so sweet and calm. I simply tell them good luck!
Tar crossed over the rainbow bridge in 2007 dues to kidney failure at 16 years of age.
